Sydelle

Yay! It's finished! Much sooner than I anticipated, actually. This ended up turning into one of those projects that literally kept me up at night and prevented me from doing anything productive until it was done. I just wanted to see how it would turn out SO BAD! Well worth it, I must say.

Anyways, this is Sydelle, an important character in a fantasy novel I plan to write...someday. She had her own book once, which never ammounted to anything special so I just kind of scrapped it. But her character has changed a lot over the years, and now I think I have a pretty good idea of who she is and how to include her in this story. She's 17 or 18 years old, and she belongs to a matriarchal warrior society made of tribes that lives and roam around in the desert. The colored streaks in her hair are a tradition among her people, with the red streaks symbolizing her standing as a warrior among her people and the blue streak representing that she is...I guess you would say it's sort of the equivilant of royalty or nobility, but not quite. Her mother is a leader of one of the tribes. I'm still trying to work out all the details. Anyways, the king of the country they live in has become rather annoyed that these people don't follow his laws and aren't governed by his authority the way everyone else is, and he's basically given them an ultimatum that they need to become part of the realm and pay taxes, swear fealty, all that other crap, or he's going to wipe them out. Sydelle's made it her personal mission to find a way to stop that from happening. It involves magic (I think) and curses and a bunch of other stuff....I know, this idea needs a lot more work. It's not really the main plot--kind of a subplot--of the story, so I'm working on it.

Anyways, that's her. She's an old character, and while her story has changed drastically, her personality is basically the same. She's very stubborn and strong, a little cold and mean-spirited sometimes, but overall a decent person. I wanted to portray that softer side of her here. Not sure if I like her outfit though. I had a much better design at one point but can't find it anymore so I kind of just made it up based on what I remembered.

OH!!! And you want to know what the best part is about this picture? I did it all on the tablet, no sketching on paper first like I usually do. I forced myself to do all of it, beginning to end, on the tablet, for the first time ever! I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but it was very scary to me. But I did it! Yay!
