Kimono Girl - Strength

I decided to upload one of my recent art project things. I made this with a bunch of scrap materials I have around my house and some origami paper. Some acrylic, watercolors, chalk, ink, a gift bag...all very random. Anyways, I had fun with it and I guess that's the important thing. I'm selling some of these on my etsy shop (shameless self-promotion: [link]) if anyone is interested and I'm more than willing to take custom orders. Gives me something to do and makes use of all the crap I need to clear out if my shelves.

I actually spent three years of my childhood in Kumamoto, Japan and a lot of my creative inspiration comes from the culture there. I remember making these little origami kimono dolls with some of the neighbor ladies when I was little. They were much smaller than this and mine always turned out crappy (hey, I was five). I kind of liked how this turned out though and like I said, I had a lot of fun with it. I think it was the randomness and not having to focus on getting everything 110% perfect (which I've never been good at). It was more like, "Let's stick this paper over here, and we'll put a sticker there, a little paint in that corner." Very fun.
