Katniss Everdeen, the main character of the Hunger Games trilogy. This is a character I really identified with and have been wanting to draw for a long time, but with the movie coming out tomorrow, I figured now was a good time. This is an art nouveau inspired portrait, with the background made up of things that are representative of the character. I had a lot of fun with all the details. I drew Katniss as I pictured her from the book, but I stole a few minor elements from the movie version too. This took probably around 20 hours to complete.
Katniss and the Hunger Games belong to Suzanne Collins
So this was supposed to be done forever ago. I'm here for your prize for winning Feedback Frenzy loooool. Sorry this took SO long, my life totally got away from me
Anyway, let's begin!
I am not a digital artist so the following critique is based off opinions and not experience
Vision - 4: I think you had a really good idea with this, with the details of the flowers and fire and arrows. I think your design is lovely! I've never read/seen the Hunger Games, so if these symbolize something, then you're awesome at including those! ;D
Originality - 4: I don't think I've seen anything like this before, so I'd say this is pretty original as far as fanart goes.
Technique - 3.5: I really like the way you drew the bird thing in the background, the arrows, and the bow, and her body is drawn very well! However I do think that the nose is a bit long and that the corners of her mouth could be more straight. Also, the hair seems to lie a bit flat on the head, but I'm used to seeing Manga drawings so I'm sure that's why I made that observation ^^ Otherwise, this is really good! Way better than I can draw, heh
Impact - 4: I think the background really takes the cake on this one. I love your coloring on everything except her hair, it seems like it's just missing a little...pizzaz. I dunno. But otherwise, this image is very well done.
So this has been my critique, I hope you enjoyed it, and I deeply apologize for how late it was!!! Rahhhh my life totally escaped my grasp. I hope that this was what you were looking for!
Yesssssssssssssss!! I like it!! The background looks great, and her hair, and the real subtle shading in her face... awesome! Braided hair is such a pain to draw but I like how you did it here
